Rethinking Ecocide

The Centre for Climate Crime and Climate Justice panel will discuss the possibilities of ending the false dichotomies of ‘human’ and ‘natural’ worlds, or ‘ecocide’ and ‘genocide’. Can a law of ecocide create a new ontology, or will it simply reinforce the colonial binaries and abyssal thinking that have brought us to this point?

Chair: David Whyte (QMUL)

Speakers:

Hannah Meszaros Martin (Goldsmiths University of London)

Marília de Nardin Budó Federal (University of Santa Catarina, Brazil)

Tameka Samuels-Jones, (York University, Canada)
