Event outline:

The implementation of ambitious goals and targets in response to the interlinked crises of climate, pollution and biodiversity loss is proving painfully slow and difficult, despite increasingly stark and urgent warnings.  We are witnessing around the globe a rising frustration at all levels of society as irreversible tipping points are being crossed, and vulnerable countries and communities continue to disproportionately suffer.

Could this be because we have yet to put in place the correct enabling conditions for positive change?

An international criminal law framework to deter and prevent severe and widespread or long-term destruction of ecosystems - now increasingly known as “ecocide” - could provide a sorely needed guardrail and guidance system to catalyse strategic change across industry and policy.

At the same time, such a framework could provide a powerful legal tool to protect ecosystems which are vital to climate stability, as well as those who stand up to defend them.

Find out how this legal initiative is rapidly gathering momentum and cross-sector support around the globe, as a way to reframe our relationship with the living world around us from one of harm to one of harmony.
